Matthias Berlandi studied history, political sciences and latin at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. After a research visit to Scotland in 2015 he acquired the M.A. by evaluating previously unpublished charters from the local archives in Hawick. During his PhD he deepend his "grundwissenschaftlichen" education by working at the Project "Die deutschen Inschriften des Mittelalters und der Frühen Neuzeit" at the Saxonian Academy of Sciences in Leipzig.
Aside from diplomatics his research interests are philosophy of history, conflict research and cultural history.
